Ethiopia has accelerated construction of GERD (Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam) over Nile river. According to Ethiopian Ministry of Water and Irrigation, 78.3 % of the dam has been completed. Till June 2020, dam was 74% complete. From June to December 2020, the dam was further 4.3% completed and these six months were the fastest since the start of dam construction in 2011. Sudan and Egypt have warned Ethiopia against starting second filling of the dam without consensus. Ethiopia is very close to starting the 2nd filling of the dam
